In-School Youth Programs
College Works
LA Works has created a unique program enabling low-income high school
students to participate in a college preparation program. This program,
in collaboration with the University of New Mexico, provides high school
students with the opportunity to experience 2 weeks of living, learning
and working on a college campus.
College Bound
College Bound, a mentoring program for the students who participate in
the College Works program, provides ongoing assistance and support as
they strive to attain a college education. Students are given guidance
and follow-up as they further their education.
Work Experience
This program, funded by the Workforce Investment Act of 1998, exposes
youth to opportunities which will prepare them for the future by providing
a comprehensive array of services. The program serves eligible in-school
youth ages 14 and above. Services available include work experience, tutoring,
alternative secondary education, paid/unpaid work experience, occupational
skills training, leadership development, supportive services guidance
and counseling, adult mentoring, and 12 months of follow-up services
