Mini Career Centers®
LA Works, a WIA Title I financially assisted program/activity operative, is a WorkSource center partner of the Los Angeles County Workforce Investment Board. As such we assist with the promotion of our partner's services and activities, one of which is the operation of Mini Career Centers®.
LA Works also partners with the Los Angeles County Sherriff's Department to provide students, incarcerated at the Los Angeles Sherriff's Department (LASD) facilities, with technical and career training, preparing them for re-entry into the workforce upon release. Students receive GED preparation and pre-employment skills training in a wide variety of topics including: Bicycle Repair, Commercial Painting, Computer Skills, Culinary, Gardening/Landscaping, Life Skills, Masonry, Printing, Welding, and more. LA Works operates the computer classrooms, referred to as Mini Career Centers®, at eight LASD facilities located throughout Los Angeles County.
Mini career centers® include a career resources area to promote clients' ability to conduct career exploration and job search. The resource area may consist of a career resource library, computers with Internet access, copier/printers, a copier, and a phone bank. Clients will primarily utilize these resources to conduct career exploration. In addition to identifying information on the local labor market and the availability of specific job opportunities, clients may utilize the career resources materials to learn the levels of education and work experience necessary to achieve specific career goals.
LA Works, a WIA Title I financially assisted program/activity operative, is an equal opportunity employer/program. Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities. Back to Main Page
