California Low Cost Automobile Insurance Program
The California Low Cost Automobile Insurance Program is sponsored by the California Department of Insurance and satisfies the State law that all drivers must have automobile insurance.
The California Low Cost Auto Insurance Program provides eligible drivers automobile liability insurance for less than $400 per year. Applicants may qualify for this program if they:
Are at least 19 years of age
Have been licensed to drive for at least 3 consecutive years
Own a vehicle that is valued at $20,000 or less
Meet income eligibility requirements
Are in a household of 1-8 persons
Income eligibility for the program can be established based on unemployment benefit information, current paycheck stubs, or previous year income tax returns. For more information visit the California Department of Insurance Website.
