CALIFORNIA CONSERVATION CORPS RECRUITMENT OPPORTUNITY
Irwindale, CA – LA Works is happy to announce its partnership with The California Conservation Corps (CCC). CCC is for young men and women ages 18 to 25. Almost everyone can benefit from a year in the Corps, and California benefits from their work. Openings are available year-round.
Besides age, there are just a few requirements, such as, applicants must not be on parole or formal probation, must not have been convicted of violent crimes, and must be interested in working outdoors. There are no restrictions as to income level or education.
The CCC will be holding monthly recruitment events at our LA Works facility on the last Thursday of each month at 9:00 am. Those who meet the basic requirements work with a local recruiter and CCC staff during the application and training process, which includes fingerprinting, a physical exam, drug screening, and completion of a one-week orientation class. Bring your Social Security Card and California ID or DL and pen with you to the recruitment event … dress appropriately and don't be late!
Corps members work outdoors M-TH from 6am to 3pm and receive between $8.00-$10.00 per hour/full time. You will gain experience and basic skills, explore careers, do something for the environment, meet new people, and go new places. The CCC is basically a one-two year program, although corps members can leave at any time.
Corps members take on a variety of outdoor work, including landscaping, trail building, tree planting, brush clearance, minor construction work, wildlife habitat improvement, flood prevention and more. The CCC responds to natural disasters and other emergencies so corps members may find themselves sandbagging against floods, fighting fires, assisting with oil spill cleanup or helping with earthquake recovery.
