San Gabriel Valley Cooling Locations
Heat causes dehydration, increases the work of the heart, stresses our cooling mechanisms (such as sweat), and challenges us to find a cool shelter. Those seeking shelter from the summer heat can take refuge at one of the 55 cooling centers open across Los Angeles County.
Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich announced the opening of the centers on his website this week. The cooling centers are operated by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and are free to the public.
Remember, the best defense against heat-related illness is prevention. Staying cool and making simple changes in your fluid intake, activities and clothing during hot weather can help you remain safe and healthy.
