LA WORKS RECEIVES RECOGNITION FROM LOS ANGELES COUNTY FOR ESTABLISHING ITSELF AS A WORLD-CLASS ORGANIZATION IN THE DELIVERY OF WORKFORCE SERVICES Irwindale-- LA Works, a WorkSource Center providing
assistance to job seekers and businesses throughout the Northeastern San
Gabriel Valley, received recognition by the County of Los Angeles and
has being officially recertified as a WorkSource Center by the governing
body of Los Angeles County's WorkSource Centers, the Los Angeles County
Workforce Investment Board (LACWIB).
In order to receive funding from the LACWIB, all WorkSource Centers are put through a rigorous recertification process. The LACWIB Certification Committee assesses the WorkSource Center to verify evidence that processes and services are in place to meet performance standards. The Center is evaluated on its operational process and procedures, continuous quality improvement plan, and establishment of partnerships with local trade associations and business partners. Success in the process assures the public that a certified site attained a high standard of quality and consistently maintains that standard over time. The recertification process takes place every two years. The basis in which the LACWIB Certification Committee makes a decision regarding the recertification of LA Works was based on multiple factors such as on-site observations, panel discussion with LA Works’ key partners and businesses, group interviews with LA Works’ Continuous Quality Improvement Team, along with supporting documentation provided by the Center. LA Works’ preparation efforts and focus on meeting the LACWIB’s recertification standards certainly was justified based on the positive comments by the Certification Committee. “By continuously striving to improve services to job seekers, businesses and other stakeholders in the communities you serve, LA Works WorkSource Center has established itself as a world-class organization in the delivery of workforce services and has set the standard for WorkSource Centers throughout the County of Los Angeles.” A public agency, LA Works is a WorkSource Center that provides a comprehensive system of training, placement and career planning services for job seekers throughout Southern California. LA Works also provides a wide range of professional services to businesses, including: On-the-Job training Programs, job placement and training assistance, internet job postings, recruitment services, videoconferencing, facility rental and consulting services. Based in Irwindale, California, and with a Mini Career Center located at the San Dimas Unified School District Campus, LA Works was founded in 1976 as the primary public job training and placement center for residents of cities in the East San Gabriel Valley.
