CollegeWorks : Helping High School Students Set Higher Education Goals
Irwindale, CA – LA Works will once again send fifty local “at-risk” high school students to participate in a two-week joint college prep program sponsored by LA Works and the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque.

LA Works, in partnership with the University of New Mexico, provides a College Prep Program designed to promote educational opportunities for economically disadvantaged and at-risk high school students. Selected students will receive the benefits of academic preparation for college while discovering the benefits of earning a college degree.  The students will reside in the University’s dormitories offering added exposure to the college experience. In addition, assistance to improve college skill levels and prepare for the Scholastic Aptitude Test is provided, along with recreational outings and summer employment.

LA Works has been operating the CollegeWorks program since 1997.  In addition to the two-week college experience, students are enrolled into our year-round College Bound Program in which they are mentored to keep them focused on higher education and further prepare them for college entrance.
