LA Works/Mt. San Antonio College Basic Skills
Instruction in basic skills and GED curriculums include:
- TABE Reading Skills (1.0-6.0 grade level)
- GED Level Reading Skills (8.0 and greater Grade Level)
- Pre-GED Level Reading Skills (6.0-8.0 grade level)
- Language and Writing Skills
- TABE/Pre-GED/GED Level
- TABE Level Math Computation (1.0-6.0 Grade Level)
- Pre-GED/GED Level Math and Applied Math (6.0 and greater Grade Level)
Additionally, the GED Curriculum includes Writing Skills,
Social Studies, Science, Literature, and Math.
The administration of GED and TABE pre-tests will provide
an assessment to determine each student’s skill level. Subsequently,
an Individual Education Plan (IEP) will be proposed by the on-site educational
advisor/instructor from Mt. San Antonio College. Once the IEP has been
developed, students complete the studies outlined in each content area
until their objectives are met. Post-tests will be administered for each
content area, and the process is repeated until all objectives of the
IEP are met. If obtaining a GED was originally established as a goal,
upon completion of their objectives, students will be referred to Mt.
San Antonio College, other authorized GED tests sites, for their official
GED exam.
