Employees Participate In Los Angeles Step Out Inaugural Walk
JANUARY, 2009

Irwindale, CA – LA Works’ employees were amongst the nearly 2,500 participants and volunteers that took part in the inaugural Los Angeles Step Out Walk aimed at raising funds to combat diabetes.  The event raised over $180,000  that will be used to search for a cure, help people with diabetes, and invest in the health of future generations.
For more than 60 years, volunteers and the American Diabetes Association have made great progress in the fight against diabetes. It is through these combined efforts we can continue to make a difference in the lives of the 20.8 million children and adults in the US who suffer from this life-threatening disease.
“Our agency’s mission is to improve the quality of life of all customers by delivering community resources, education, and career opportunities.  I am proud of the work our staff does to meet our goals and am honored to work with such caring individuals.”  said Salvador Velasquez, Chief Executive Officer of LA Works.
