LA WORKS PARTNERSHIP WITH TROPICANA : BUSINESS SERVICES SUCCESS STORY

Irwindale, CA - In May 2008, the LA Works WorkSource Center was informed that Tropicana is looking to recruit staff for their location in the City of Industry. Always on the lookout to assist businesses, LA Works Staff contacted Tropicana's HR Manager and extended an invitation to utilize LA Works’ facility and the multitude of services for businesses and job seekers available. A tour of LA Works was provided and the logistics on how to set up a recruitment process was discussed.

LA Works reserved facility areas for training of staff, orientations, assessments, and group testing. LA Works also provided office space and resources to their Project Coordinator for the duration of recruitment of 50-60 new hires.

In addition, LA Works also provided the following services for Tropicana:

-E-Blasted openings and notice of recruitment several times to all partners, schools, EDD office contacts and all County WorkSource Centers.

-Provided a qualified candidate for them to hire to handle their recruitment process ( they are very pleased with her and have offered to have her apply for permanent employee status).

-Provided partner assistance for administering assessment testing (EDD offered two reps to assist in calling and administering assessment tests).

-Additional assistance in calling applicants for scheduling of assessments, group testing and interview process.

-Provided food areas for catering purposes.

-Accomodated recruitment schedules by allowing extended hours twice a week when available.

-Ensured that most interested candidates were provided with Tropicana applications, and which were turned in to Tropicana staff on a daily basis.

-Front-line staff directed and provided information and actively recruited for Tropicana.
