LA WORKS PARTNERSHIP WITH LOWE'S : BUSINESS
SERVICES SUCCESS STORY Irwindale, CA - In July 2007, the LA Works WorkSource Center was informed that a new Lowe’s Home Improvement Store was to be built in the City of Industry. Always on the lookout to assist business, LA Works Staff contacted Lowe’s HR Manager and extended an invitation to utilize LA Works’ facility and the multitude of services for businesses and job seekers available. A tour of LA Works was provided and the logistics on how to set up a recruitment process was discussed. LA Works provided office space so that Lowes’ Regional Human Resources Manager - Linda Tschudy, could put her local human resources staff in place. Practically overnight, Lowes had set up their recruitment office at LA Works. Telephone, fax and computer connectivity was quickly provided for them. Lowe’s “moved in” and occupied LA Works’ facility for approximately 8 weeks. With the assistance of LA Works, they recruited for a variety of positions such as Cashiers, Merchandise Stockers, Specialty Departments, and Department Managers. LA Works assisted in promoting the openings and screening for suitable candidates. Once the recruitment process was completed, LA Works then provided a large conference room in which Lowe’s conducted new hire orientations and trainings. Lowes was able to hire the necessary staff and open their store on time. They credit LA Works for helping them meet their hiring objectives. Ms. Slipich, Human Resource Manager stated “Thanks again for all your assistance. Your space made our store possible, thank you”. Because of this great experience, Ms. Slipich continues to promote LA
Works and use LA Works services to help fill future openings. And, due
to her confidence and successful experience with LA Works, CostCo is now
holding on-site recruitment at LA Works for a new store they are opening
