EMPLOYEES PARTICIPATE IN National RED
Day™
January, 2008
Irwindale, CA, October 19 – LA Works selected
Friday, February 1, 2008 to demonstrate their support of the American
Heart Association Women’s Awareness by coordinating a “Wear
Red for the Cause™” event.
LA Works joined with thousands of women, companies and organizations and
cities across America on National Wear Red Day, Friday, February 1, 2008.
By wearing red and making a donation, LA Works staff is helping the American
Heart Association support ongoing research and education about women and
heart disease.
What We Wore
National Wear Red Day has its own dress code. Staff was encouraged to
wear their favorite red clothes or accessories - a red blouse, a red dress
pin, a fabulous red handbag, or sport a red tie and red socks. Additionally,
making a contribution to the American Heart Association meant that staff
was able to wear jeans to work on this special day.

Why Wear Red?
Too few people realize that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women
(and men), but the good news is heart disease can often be prevented.
Spreading the Go Red For Women message raises awareness of heart disease
and empowers women to reduce their risk.
