LA Works improves customer services

Irwindale, CA – LA Works strives to meet the demands of a constantly changing workforce community by establishing partnerships with businesses and community-based agencies to offer optimum services to our customers. We believe that we do make an impact by successfully placing our job seekers in the right job for them; which trickles back to benefit taxpayers, the regional economy, and local employers. Below are a few examples of how LA Works has worked towards improving services to our customers:

> The partnership incorporated guest presenters during orientation information sessions for special projects (e.g. information on Employment Training Panel (ETP) programs, scholarship training opportunities, National Emergency Grant Employment Program) to maximize customer knowledge and choice of available services/resources.

> Added customer service support staff to provide follow up activities for employed customers to support Post-program follow up and retention services.

> Added two new electronic job search technique workshops “EZ Rezumail” and “Web Your Way to Work” to enhance the knowledge of job seekers on how to conduct an effective job search on the Internet.

> Coordinated and hosted a two day workshop for workforce development staff on Building Employer Relationships… Making Business Satisfied, Lifelong Partners and Customers.

> Implemented a quarterly Business Advisory Committee to address the concerns and issues that business face and collaborate on solutions to meet their challenges

LA Works seeks to meet the needs of job seekers and businesses in Los Angeles County. This can be a challenging task as Los Angeles has numerous economic challenges, including a large and inadequately educated immigrant workforce and a large gap between high-wage and low-wage jobs. Our Workforce Development leaders are working towards strengthening strategic workforce development projects -- by identifying growing industries and training workers for them. We will set our goal towards working closely with business and community so that we can construct new development approaches.
