Email Tips
Have you ever sent an email and then were sorry you did? Maybe you included
someone in the distribution list that you didn’t mean to; or, maybe
you included content that shouldn’t have been included. Following
are some email tips to avoid these problems.
Double-Check Your Work
It may seem like a waste of time, but it pays to read through the complete
e-mail before you send it. If you are concerned with misspellings, try
reading the entire thing backwards, this helps you locate mistakes you
might not find while quickly reading through from beginning to end. Checking
and double-checking will help you look professional, too.
Blank Address
To be sure that you do not send an email until you are absolutely ready
to send it try leaving the address field blank. Wait until it is ready
to go then type in the sender’s address…but only after you
have checked and double-checked. This will prevent you from accidentally
sending the correspondence before you are completely finished. Another
good tip is to not click “reply” to respond to an email. Instead,
open a new email and compose your response. Once you are happy with your
response (remember, check and double-check), copy it into the reply template
to send.
